Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone
We are heading to Lisbon, Portugal, soon so I thought it would be fun to read this recently released thriller by best-selling author Chris Pavone. "Two Nights in Lisbon" follows the story of Ariel Pryce, who wakes up in a Lisbon hotel room to find her husband, John is missing. He is not in the bed next to her. He is not answering his cell phone. Hotel security does not know where he is, but they would like to be helpful. He has just vanished. So begins the thriller which takes Ariel on a chase to find out what happened to her husband. When she contacts local authorities, they begin to ask questions to which Ariel does not know the answers. What does her husband do for a living? Why did he take her along on a business trip? Why does his sister live in Morrocco? And is John actually his real name, or perhaps an alias? Soon there are kidnappers in the mix, and a demand for a hefty ransom. Ariel quickly realizes that she has to take matters into her own hands and find the money to pay the ransom, or else risk never seeing her husband again. I found this book fast paced, and quite well crafted. It definitely made me want to go to Portugal, and also made me want to read more books by Chris Pavone. His other books include "The Expats," "The Paris Diversion," "The Accident" and "The Travelers." To buy this book on Amazon click here.
